ipod touch and exchange

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

when i got the ipod touch quite a while ago i was kind of envious that i wasn’t able to sync my calendar and contacts directly with our companies microsoft exchange server 2003.

since i am using the ipod on my mac there was no way to contact the exchange server (like using apple mail or the like). yet, when i stumbled across this article i gave it another try and it worked.

ipod touch battery drain problem resolved

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

a while ago i ran into a problem with my ipod touch after i did the upgrade to the new 2.0 firmware whereas my ipod battery would die when going into standby. i fixed the problem by resetting the ipod and having it sync again.
it now works (tested for quite a while now).

ryan – if you read this: i tried to contact you but the email address you supplied isn’t being recognized. i hope you read this followup post.

think different

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

though i am still fairly new to the apple family, i was always impressed by the motivation that stood behind apple – mostly to be the main important tool for creative people to make art, be it music (like trent reznor, nine inch nails), writing (douglas noel adams) or photography (michael clark). macosx problems when partitioning with bootcamp

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

my macbook pro (10.5.2) crashed today when i wanted to partition it using bootcamp assistant. it displayed the error message that my computer had to be restarted by holding the power button. i did just that and ended up with a disk that was missing 32gb space. what the fuck?

macbook pro wallpapers

Monday, March 24th, 2008

wallpapers bring my hobbies of photography and computers together.
i constantly search for new motives to use as backgrounds for my computers at home, at work or on the road.
instead of uploading the pictures and wallpapers to deviantArt i will host them here on my own blog instead.

how to: huawei e220 on macosx leopard

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

last week i bought the yesss! mobile internet modem starter kit (about 150€).

the box stated it supported only windows so hofer/aldi is not to blame – yet i blame huawei, the manufacturer, for running a piss poor and unintuitive website where i needed to use google search on the site to find the drivers page.

but that didn’t help either. the modem wasn’t recognized by leopard, that’s why i started searching the web for solutions.

something that really helped me was a blog article by daniel kulosa (http://www.kulosa.net) who gave exact instructions on how to setup and use the modem.

steve jobs and his “reality distortion field”

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

steve jobs is famous for his “reality distortion field” that he is used to create among audiences when talking about new products and inventions, that might not be that impressive on paper, but when he starts to talk about it – you “buy” it. that brings me to the question:
why would you want to buy a mac?

go with the flow

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

after using my new macbook pro for about a month now i still can’t be anything else than amazed by the build quality, versatility and style. and it just works.

the day i bought the macbook pro, a 15” 2,14ghz and 2gb ram with glossy display and english macosx, i did the car tuners equivalent of “popping the hood” and taking a look at the inner workings, then changing them as i saw fit.

i had to have windows vista running on the macbook pro, but with all the fancy aero stuff, not just a virtual machine. thats why i chose bootcamp. the installation went extremely smooth and the drivers do their job. what i am missing is that in vista i can’t just tap the trackpad to make a click, i have to use the button. but thats just driver adjustment that might see the light of day soon.
all the stuff works, at least as far as i can tell, but i’ve got some trouble right now when having the macbook pro running all through the night with azureus on. when i wake up i see that it had restarted somewhere in the middle of the night.

i haven’t found the cause as of yet, but since macosx runs smooth i won’t try to change it.

battery life is amazing. as i am typing these lines sitting in the train on my way to work it is still charged 92% – and i’ve been working for almost 30 minutes now.

why is this entry called “go with the flow”?
apple returned to the marked when they introduced the ipod. and they went straight up again ever since.
after having bought a second and a fourth generation ipod, that both still work, it was a logical thing to do to buy an apple computer, supporting the things that just work.

and i am really damn happy with it :-)
